Solo Self-Found with Smith of Kitava is rough at the very start, no way around it. You're swinging slow, your flask setup's thin, and you're always one bad pack away from limping to town. If you're planning ahead and want to buy PoE 2 Currency to smooth out early crafting, it can take the edge off, but you can still make this climb work with smart routing. Lean on Bone Shatter and Rolling Slam until your kit stops feeling like it's held together with tape, and don't be shy about doing a few extra loops once you reach Clearfell just to force vendor refreshes for a usable weapon base.
Early Skill FlowAround level 5, pick up Falling Thunder and start thinking about Shock uptime, not raw tooltip damage. It's the kind of thing you "feel" more than you measure, especially when your gear's basically scrap. The other big early win is Rage supports. Stack them as soon as they're available and you'll notice your attacks stop stalling out between packs. When Wind Blast finally comes online, the run changes pace. It reads like melee, but the cone's huge, so you're tagging threats before they even get comfy. Keep Quarterstaff Strike for single targets, and drop Tempest Bell linked to Overabundance so you can bank Rage and then cash it in during boss windows.
Act Two Staying AliveIn Act Two, the greedy play is chasing damage nodes first, and that's how most SSF warriors end up face-planting. Spend your first ascendancy points on survival. Smith of Kitava scales armor in a way that makes even a plain white body armor feel like a real upgrade, and the extra life plus regen buys you mistakes. You'll probably hit annoying Dex and Int requirements for the quarterstaff setup, so just take temporary attribute passives and move on. You can respec them later when rings and belts start cooperating, and it's not worth bricking your gem links over pride.
Broken Stance Into Real ClearOnce you can weave in Vaulting Impact, the combat loop gets a lot more fun. Wind Blast applies Daze, Vaulting Impact pops Broken Stance, and suddenly tough rares stop feeling immortal. Still, the true turning point is level 41 when you swap to Whirling Assault. It hits four times per use, which means every buff tick, Rage stack gain, and bell interaction ramps faster than you'd expect. Add Magnified Area and Lightning Attunement and you're not "clearing better," you're deleting screens while your feet keep moving.
Corpse Chains And Simple GearYour second ascendancy is where it gets silly: Fire Spell on Hit lets you trigger Detonate Dead without paying mana, so Whirling Assault turns packs into a rolling explosion line. Dense mechanics practically play themselves. For speed, Infernal Cry and Mantra of Destruction keep momentum up, and Attrition is there when a boss refuses to fall over. Gear stays boring on purpose: ignore evasion and energy shield, stack life, cap resists early, and spam Essences of Abrasion on a decent quarterstaff for flat physical.
